And we've built it into all the remote dog training products and equipment we make. We call it the STAR ^TM (Stimulus, Tone And Reward) Dog Training System. STAR technology is built into all our Remote Dog Training Collars. It gives you the tools to quickly associate good behaviors with positive training tones and painless, LOW LEVEL^TM corrective stimulus to stop undesirable behaviors humanely. Higher level stimulus is provided to stop dangerous animal behavior. Developed by the nation's most noted animal behaviorists, animal trainers, engineers and neuroscientists, this proven new training method works! It works quick! and no other brand of electronic dog trainer has it.

Our trainers give you command tones to teach your dog positive behaviors. They also have several corrective stimulus buttons that allow you to instantly select the stimulus level that is appropriate for your dog and the type of negative behavior to be corrected. BUILT ON SCIENTIFIC TRAINING PRINCIPLES

POSITIVE TRAINING TONES:
Only High Tech Pet electronic dog training collars give you multiple positive training tones. STAR ^TM Training uses the Pavlovian principle of associating an audible tone with a memory of a positive feeling. In the STAR process, you first speak a command while selecting a unique tone from your training device. All our electronic training devices give you multiple tones, each to be associated with a command of your choosing such as, "Sit", "Stay" and "Down". You then demonstrate the behavior. For example, to teach your dot to come, you play the selected tone, say, "Come," and tough on your dog's leash, pulling him toward you. The final step is to play the same tone again while giving your dog a treat and affection.

TEACHING POSITIVE BEHAVIOR:

1. Play tone while speaking command.
2. Demonstrate desired behavior.
3. Play tone while giving treat and affection.

EXAMPLE 1: Teaching Dog to Sit
1. Play designated "sit" tone while saying, "Sit".
2. Hold a treat in one hand close to your dog's nose and step forward, (you may also push down on his hind section) manipulating him into a sitting position.
3. Play tone while saying, "Good Dog!" and offering a treat.

EXAMPLE 2: Teaching Dog to Come
1. Play designated "come" tone while saying, "Come".
2. Tug on leash, pulling your dog toward you.
3. Play tone while saying, "Good Dog!" and offering a treat.

With the STAR technique, your dog will quickly associate the tone with performing the behavior and the positive experience of the reward. In this way, STAR training actually fuses the memory of the behavior with the memory of the reward so that your dog literally learns to love performing the behavior.

CORRECTIVE STIMULUS:
As the manufacturer of the world's most effective and humane dog training devices, High Tech Pet strongly opposes the misuse of dog shock collars. Applying painful stimulus without first teaching why the dog is being corrected and clearly teaching how he should respond, is not only confusing to the animal, it is cruel and abusive. Most other shocking dog collars provide strong stimulus without a clear protocol for use or painless alternative. For that reason, we believe that about 90% of the shock collars made today should be banned from sale and use. Our training collars provide a range of safe corrective stimulus levels that are engineered to be harmless to your dog. We provide a clear training protocol for the responsible pet owner wherein, the vast majority of training may be done with painless, LOW LEVEL ^TM stimulus, reserving higher level correction for very rare situations.

High Tech Pet pioneered the use of LOW LEVEL ^™ corrective stimulus. All of our collars use this more humane, and in most cases, more effective, use of corrective stimulus. Our unique Low Level stimulus provides a painless tactile sensation that is used to communicate the "NO" or "STOP" command to your dog. When used correctly according to our STAR ^™ training principles, this painless stimulus is effective in the vast majority of cases, restricting the use of stronger correction to a very limited set of cases.

REDIRECTING NEGATIVE BEHAVIOR: When teaching your dog to stop an undesirable behavior such as jumping, digging or chewing, it is typically ineffective to tell the dog "Stop" without redirecting the behavior. Instead of telling your dog what not to do (a fairly abstract concept for most dogs – and people), it is more effective to follow the "Stop" command with a positive instruction.

TRAINING WITH LOW LEVEL ^™ STIMULUS:
1. Speak the "No" or "Stop" command while applying Low Level^™ stimulus.
2. Redirect the negative behavior by playing a positive tone and speaking the associated positive command.

EXAMPLE: Stop Dog from Jumping
1. Apply Low Level Stimulus while speaking the command "Stop".
2. Play tone associated with "Sit" while speaking the "Sit" command. In most cases this will be sufficient to stop the unwanted behavior.

MODERATE CORRECTION: If the Low Level correction proves ineffective, High Tech Pet training devices provide for a moderate correction level that your dog will find unpleasant. Use the moderate correction level in exactly the same manner as described in the example above. In a short time your dog will respond to the Low Level correction on the first command because he knows a stronger correction will follow. Always use the Low Level stimulus as your first correction.

STRONG CORRECTION: High Tech Pet e-collars do provide a strong corrective stimulus. This is intended for use only in rare cases when your dog's behavior threatens his safety or the safety of others. Examples included chasing cars, chasing people or fighting with other dogs. It is very important to note that most, if not all, of these situations are avoided if your dog is properly leashed or contained.
